The “Pool of Life” at the Fundacion Valentin Madariaga
The Spin Off exhibition curated by Eduardo D’Acosta opened on 14 October 2016 and runs until 8 January 2017. Here 30 students who have studied contemporary photography with Eduardo at the CAC Malaga (Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga) or the Foundation Valentin Madariaga in Seville were selected to display their work alongside 10 guest lecturers from the course. Michelle was thrilled to have on display two photographs from her ‘Pool of Life’ series. Read more here: http://www.hotelessencephotography.com/blog/pool-life-fundacion-valentin-madariaga-seville/

Many people believe that the historic centre of Seville is one of those classic places that never changes. In some ways that’s true – the timeless ceramic tiles, the neo-Mudejar buildings – but in other ways if you haven’t been to Seville for a few months, when you go back again so much has changed. The Casa de Pilatos was a place that Michelle photographed for the first time over 20 years ago and it was a delight to return again, camera in hand, and spend many hours photographing the patios and gardens. The gardens were completely out of season, devoid of any of the traditional agapanthus, but with the autumn sunshine and the huge range of green and brown hues in the gardens mixed with the magnificent architecture, this is always a worthy subject for any photographer.

A visit to Hotel Casa Nº7 in Seville
When Casa Nº7 first opened its doors in 2009, Michelle carried out the photography for the hotel. Quality hotels just don’t change. The anglophile owner Gonzalo del Río maintains an impeccable boutique hotel with polished mahogany tables, shiny Edwardian silverwear and beautiful pieces of art throughout the hotel, many painted by his own mother. It just goes to show that the classic style is never goes out of fashion with Casa Nº7’s timeless air.

Intertwining project
As a continuation of the intertwining project, Michelle photographed model: Salvador Gotor in a chestnut tree in the village of Genalguacil in the Genal Valley. As part of this project some of the images of the human form not only intertwine with the tree but also the roots, given the symbolism that we are all linked to nature.

Still life
One lone, red jumper and a chestnut forest. Contemporary art photography can be planned or it can just happen completely naturally – this picture is the latter.
